My friend Dave and I had been asked to do some judging for the Oakville Camera Club up in Alton and we decided to get there a little early to get some shots of the Dod Mill (aka Millcroft Inn). About a year ago I had created a great shot of this mill and since then a lot of my club members have wanted to go back and recreate my shot. It’s quite a nice compliment but I know I will never have the same conditions I had then. However, that didn’t stop me from trying to something a little different this time around.

I was really happy to get this reflection at the top of the waterfall beside the inn. We also spent some time at the bottom of the waterfall and I really liked the old pipe along the wall of the inn. There is just something about it that gets me every time I visit this place.

We wandered along the path to the spot where I took my favourite shots of this mill. This time around it just didn’t work as a photo opportunity. I hope Dave had better luck in getting the shot he was looking for. Afterwards we went back to Alton Mill to do our duty as judges for the competition.
