Painted and Ancient

Nigel, Pete and myself got together this morning for a well deserved photography excursion. Our destination was the Forks of the Credit provincial park. On the way in Nigel noticed some turtles at a roadside pond. What he originally thought was a couple of turtles turned out to be quite the horde of them all sunning themselves on logs throughout the pond.

We spent quite a bit of time here before finally making it into the park and onto the trails. Once on the trails it was decided that we visit the cataract waterfall (which is located on the other side of the park – quite a distance away).

The walk to the falls was not as bad as the walk back to the parking lot. I made the silly mistake of saying we should take the loop forgetting about the massive hill we had to climb to get back (it was either that or a very long staircase-still not sure which is worse).

We slowly trudged back to our car and it was a relief to all of us when we finally made it back. I think it was too early in the season to do that trek but we have to start somewhere.
