A Walk with the Colonel

I’ve visited Colonel Sam Smith Park a few times this year and each time I find new things to photograph. By looking beyond the same old thing we can find new photographic opportunities waiting for us. Walking the path to the harbour I decided to look down into the water from were I stood rather than across its expanse.

Under the Water

Under the Water

This little leaf was right under me begging to have its photo taken. Trapped between rocks it had nowhere to escape. Walking on towards a different part of the shoreline I discovered an odd thing.

Brick Art

Brick Art

Old wire from buildings long ago were dumped here and people had started stringing the orange bricks onto them making their own kind of art. Continuing along the shore I watched the setting sun creep closer and closer to the horizon.

Waiting for him

Waiting for him

A lady was standing on a spit of land and I thought it was a great opportunity to get someone in the photograph for a sense of scale. in post production I also made this photo more blue to make it feel colder.
