Frozen Harbour

So now that temperatures are definitely on the decline, things are frozen over and for now it seems to be permanent. This freeze prompted another visit to Colonel Sam Smith park to see how things are shaping up there.

The Crack

The Crack

I always like to look for patterns in the ice when out exploring on the lake but particularly in smaller harbours where the ice is more likely to have solidified. Just down from the mouth of the inner harbour I photographed this large crack in the ice surface pointing straight at the trees in the distance creating a nice leading line to them.

With my trip to Iceland fast approaching I wanted to practice taking panoramic photographs in expectation of the vast landscapes I envision I’ll be encountering.

So I tried it out on the harbour to see how my second attempt would work (first attempt was in a post for Claireville) and I have to say so far so good. There’s still more practicing to be had particularly in dealing with the post production. What do you think so far?
