Garden Finds

My first stop on my neighbourhood walk today was my own backyard. We have loads of stuff growing in the backyard and one of them is my favourite thing to eat – raspberries.

Raspberry

This raspberry bush is one that keeps on giving all summer long. And now that we have quite a few plants there should be plenty to eat in the coming months. Next to one of the raspberry bushes, I found this pretty black butterfly on the dill flowers.

I wanted to make this photo very soft looking so most of it is blurry except the butterfly’s eyes.

I only have one interesting photo from my walk today. I took a shot of this rough-looking daisy that caught my eye. You know what didn’t catch my eye – the beetle crawling up onto it. LOL

Sometimes I get a little too focused on getting the shot focused and exactly the way I want it that I don’t always notice things crawling onto my subjects. I did eventually notice it for my next shot but I liked this one a little better.

Bird’s Foot

It’s another beautiful summer day and the birds are begging to be photographed. Bird’s-foot trefoil that is.

This cute little yellow flower has blooms that are small with a unique shape. Sometimes the flowers are streaked with red making its other name, Eggs and Bacon, more appropriate.

I couldn’t pass up some shots of the daisies. The soft evening light shining on them was amazing.

And of course, the Tawny Skipper got some love, although he didn’t look overly impressed by me being there. At least they like to pose, right? LOL

Last 3 Wishes

Today’s walk was all about photographing flowers or at least that’s how it turned out. First, this ratty daisy with a whole bunch of little bugs caught my eye.

And then there was the Silverberry tree with its fragrant yellow blooms. How can I resist that one?

But then it was this dandelion flower gone to seed with only a few more wishes left that made me stop. Do people still wish on the dandelion seeds anymore?

As I do more of these neighbourhood walks they can get a little repetitive until something new pops up. Today, it was challenging to find that something new. Maybe I’ll be lucky next time.

Strange Clouds

Today was another day on the trail and as I drove up to the start of the trail I noticed strange cloud formations as some rain made its way through the area.

It didn’t seem to bode well for a dry hike. I was lucky enough to have the strange clouds to move out just after I started my hike and there was no sight of rain while I was out.

I decided to be on the look out for insects while I was out to challenge myself to go beyond the large landscape in front of me. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many interesting subjects to photograph.

Tiny Spider

Tiny Spider

My favourite was this little white spider on a white daisy. There were actually two of them on this flower but the other spider was uncooperative and ended up on the back side of the petals. When we open our eyes to the smaller worlds around us our world becomes that much larger.
