Last week I went to visit a good friend of mine who lives just north of Vancouver in Squamish. I feel in love with the town instantly. Squamish is surrounding by mountains on three sides and Howe Sound on the fourth side. It is a town ultimately made for mountain climbers, hikers, kiteboarders amoung other outdoor recreational sports. Aptly named the Outdoor Capital of Canada, one can see why as soon as you step foot into the town. My friend has a wonderful view of the Stawamus Chief.
Right next to downtown Squamish is Howe Sound. This is a great place for kiteboarding as the wind is funnelled between the mountains on either side of the river.
Or even just sitting near the dock and taking in the view.
A bar we visited has the most amazing view of the mountains and river as it passes not to far from the covered patio.
Last but not least is the crazy uphill trail to a lake that not many residents even know about. This lake is located way up a logging road that I’m not sure I would attempt in a pickup truck. However, my brave friend took me up in her truck and the bone jostling road was well worth the trip to this beautiful destination. The name you ask? Lovett Lake
And finally it was time to go home but not before one last shot of Diamond Peak near the shipping port.
Til next time…
