Todays adventure brings me into Niagara again. My goal is to try to finish the Niagara section of the Bruce Trail before the end of May. Of course looking at my calendar I realize that there is so much going on this month that it may not be possible but todays hike will surely bring me closer. Parking at Quarry Road I decide to head north towards Kinsmen Park. I wasn’t feeling 100% so I was hoping for a nice flat hike out to the park and for the most part that’s exactly what I got. The weather here in Ontario has been exceptionally beautiful and of course as you already know spring flowers have bloomed about a month prior than they should be. My focus is on photographing these new flowers that have sprung up and my first discovery is an abundance of Jack-in-the-Pulpits.

I had a lot of fun photographing this one, focusing on different areas of the flower. I like the focus on the curled top portion as it curls downward and the sun back lights it. Next up are the little white flowers that litter the edges of the trail and sometimes they grow smack dab in the middle of the trail. It wasn’t until I got home and looked them up that I discovered that they were Canadian Violets.

My favourite part of this flower are the lines that radiate out from the centre and that little hint of yellow. The last flower that I found in abundance is the wild geraniums. They were everywhere. When flowers bloom in the forest they certainly don’t mess around.
