Today is another day of warm weather and a perfect day to get my butt on the trail before the weather turns cold. Today’s destination, Hamilton Mountain. I parked at a small park on the top of the mountain and headed down a steep metal staircase to the trail below. The staircase took me down to the bottom and the entrance to the Chedoke Radial Trail. The trail itself falls between looming rock walls making temps pretty chilly down here, which is a perfect opportunity to shoot some hoar frost that has yet to melt.

Continuing along the trail there is a foreign looking bridge you don’t typically see along the Bruce Trail. A metal bridge covers the remains of the original train tracks and passes over a small river coming down from a waterfall in the mountain. I did like the effect of the metals structure and did many different types of shots here. The one below is one of my favourites.

From here the trail starts to move slowly uphill passing another small waterfall as I near the top of the escarpment. I decided to loop back to the car rather than go back down the trail and then climb the metal staircase. Since I was already up at the top of the mountain again it was best to just walk the side trail and enjoy some of the views of Hamilton and Lake Ontario below.

It was a fairly quick hike today but I did start out a little later than usual. I hope that next time I’m out on the trail there will finally be some snow on the ground.
