I had three more kilometres to hike in the Iroquoia section of the Bruce Trail and I was super psyched to finish it. The morning started really good as I started my hiking above the Wentworth Street stairs, which a stunning views of the city below.
Taking the stairs down to the trail I headed along a road before turning back uphill into the forest escarpment. The trail was full of birds and I was joined by a Robin that wanted to check out why I was in his territory.
The trail comes out onto a sidewalk with great views of Hamilton below and continues downhill for about 1/2 kilometre before it turns and goes under an overpass. I continued about 500 metres further before encountering a large tree blocking my path. I decided to head back to my car before my time expired at the car lot. This would give my leg a chance to rest while I drove to the other end and walked the other way to finish the last kilometre of trail. Boy was I surprised when I got to the other end and found the trail closed.
This meant that I would have to wait until late fall to get back into this section just to walk that last kilometre. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. To my chagrin I turned around and headed home. Sometimes things don’t work out as planned but that’s okay the trail will be there eventually, right?
