Dave and I headed out again, after some power napping, to try out some long exposures and night photography at the Oakville harbour. They have a cigarette lighthouse at the end of the pier and I wanted to get some shots with it along the rocky beach. I set myself up on the beach so I could take shots of both the beach as it faded into the Toronto skyline and the beach with the lighthouse. We had some great clouds for this evening’s fun and I remarked how nice it would have been to get some of these this morning with the sunflowers. But hey that’s mother nature for you.
Rocky Beach
The photo above fades into a very faint Toronto skyline so you will need to click on it to even see it, however, the rocks along this beach have so much character and give some great foreground material for photographs.
Oakville Lighthouse
Once the sun approached the horizon and the exposures were much longer it gave the clouds a streaked look. Again I played up the foreground with the beach rocks.
Oakville Harbour
After the long exposures got way too long we decided to head out but not before snapping some shots of the harbour. Even though the water wasn’t completely calm I was able to get reflection of all the lights along the marina. A fantastic place to shoot and practice some long exposures. Thanks to Dave for sticking it out for both shoots today!
Very nice. Your last shot (of the harbour at night) turned out way better than mine of the harbour. It looks like it was a good choice to go with HDR for that one. I’m assuming that it is HDR?
