And so here I am again, in the backyard, exploring all the flowers popping up from their deep winter sleep. Trilliums have already reached their peak and are on their way out again.
As the white Trillium turns pink its a sign of its imminent death. Although it will last another week, soon this provincial flower will be gone and the long wait until next spring comes. When shooting Trilliums one must be ready to get out as soon as the winter subsides to get your shots before they disappear for another year. Here in southern Ontario that means in early May you’ll be trekking through the woods to find fields of these pretty white (and sometimes purple) flowers. I’m lucky enough to have a few pop up in backyard each year.
I still have not figured out the name of this little purple flower that graces our backyard in huge clumps but they are quite lovely and definitely abundant. I just love how vibrant their colours are after such a gloomy and very cold winter.
Grape Hyacinths rise up from the large field of miniature flowers.
