The annual family and friends camping weekend was this weekend. About 10-15 of us (depending on the year) get together for four days to enjoy some food and booze along with the atmosphere. Along the way I squeeze in some photography and this year I roped my brother into bringing his gear along with my friend Deanna. This year we choose to get out of our comfort zone of camping at Awenda Provincial Park and head a little further north to Killbear Provincial Park.
Our first full day at the site we decided to scope out the lighthouse trail to see if it would be good for a sunset shoot. The trail takes us along the edge of the water and amidst some cliffs.
Being on the Canadian Shield means everywhere you walk is rock with a scattering of soil and large boulders to manoeuvre around. This trail was certainly not the exception to this.
It’s a beautiful, dynamic landscape which I love to photograph. Deciding on our spot for the evening shoot we finished hiking the trail and headed back to the campsites for some well deserved food and for some of us, a nap. When dusk approached we packed up some gear to head down to the chosen spot – a cliff overlooking the bay and hunkered down hoping the predicted rain would stay away until we were done.
I preferred a lot of the shots I took after the sun went down. We stuck it out quite awhile before a drizzle started and we packed up our gear to head back to the cozy campfire the others had kept nice and toasty warm for us.
