With a weekend clear of any obligations I decided on a last minute drive to Grundy Lake Provincial Park. With the intent on staying from Friday to Sunday I packed all my camping and photography gear and headed north. Grundy Lake is about three and a half hours north of Toronto and the drive is gorgeous the further north you get. The weather on my drive was grey and at times wet, as rain poured from the sky. As I pulled into the park and found myself a premium campsite, the rain stopped but the clouds still lingered.
Secret Path
After setting up camp I decided some exploring was in order before the light was completely gone for the day. Steps away from my site was a short path leading down to the waters of Lake Grundy. I couldn’t have asked for a better spot…okay maybe I could have but this was not too shabby.
A Pastel Life
Since the clouds were being uncooperative and hiding the sun as it set I decided to play with some long exposures. Tonight’s colours were a lovely combination of purples and pinks with some blues thrown in as well. The long exposure helped with blurring the clouds and water to create a soft landscape.
Storm on Grundy Lake
Since the clouds had some great definition I decided to try out a black and white image of the shoreline to my right. One great thing about heading north in Ontario is the Canadian Shield. It offers up some dramatic landscapes that we don’t often see unless we head up this way.
