One of my all time favourite places to visit is Tobermory. Located in the northern tip of south western Ontario it’s a 3.5 hour drive for me but I try to make it up at least two times a year if not more. This weekend I was able to get up to enjoy an overnighter at the Bruce Peninsula National Park.
Silence in the Evening
Picking up a late dinner at the Bootleggers Pub after some fun shooting on Cyprus Lake I was quite content when I settled in for the night. When the night started to lighten towards dawn I jumped in the car to head to Halfway Log Dump to enjoy what I hoped would be a dramatic sunrise. Although chilly and cloudy the sun did make its appearance, dramatic it was not, but it was during the blue hour that I got my favourite shots of the shoot.

After some time photographing and chatting with the leader of a workshop it was time for breakfast. Once breakfast was demolished and the campsite cleaned I went for a walk along the waters edge following the Cyprus Lake trail. Normally my feet take me towards the east in the direction of the Grotto and the crashing waves of Georgian Bay. Today my feet pulled me in the opposite direction, curiosity of what lay in that direction the motivator.

I didn’t get too far down the trail but it did offer some great views of Cyprus Lake. My next visit I will have to make the effort to follow the trail all the way around the lake.
