Cherry blossoms only bloom for a short period of time in the spring and it can be difficult to find time to get to a park to photograph them. Since I was so busy this month and the season was wrapping up I decided to see what it would be like to photograph the trees at night. So after my knit group I drove over to Kariya Park near Square One in Mississauga to see what I could get.
Kariya
Getting there it was still fairly bright out but it wouldn’t last for long. Karina Park is quite small but packs punch on the prettiness factor. Around every little corner you can find something new and unexpected. I walked around the park and as full night descended I realized something I should have earlier – there are lots of street and building lights around the park. They invade every little nook and cranny.
Night in Kariya
I decided to use it to my advantage and embrace the glow across this wooden bridge and on the trees. It was fun and a bit eerie to be in the park after hours but it was a fun little experiment to try. Not all are successful but it’s all about learning and seeing if you can push the boundaries of convention.
