Springtime on the Bruce trail is one of my favourite times of year. The bright greens with the still subtle light of the sun gives the forest an ethereal glow. The forest floor is covered with early blooming flowers and it feels like walking through a fairy tale.
I expect fairies to pop out from behind a trillium or maybe even from inside a Jack-in-the-Pulpit (which could be a convenient place to chill out if you’re small enough).
From the decaying trees fallen due to a storm or maybe just old age springs new life. As though a phoenix from its ashes these Dutchman’s Breeches rise to bloom in the spring light.
I look forward to many more walks as spring continues and eventually changes into summer. And, who knows, maybe I’ll see a fairy on my journeys.
