It was late afternoon before I decided to rip myself away from my computer and get out for a short walk at Claireville Conservation Area. Now, normally I park my car at the Finch Ave. entrance and head straight into the park from there, however, there is another path to the right that takes you under the Steeles Ave. and Highway 407 bridges and out into another section of the park I rarely explore. Boy was I glad I decided to do this trail. As I went under the bridges and turned a corner there he was. He was magnificent. A beautiful young white-tailed deer stood there just staring back at me.

He stuck around for quite awhile and put up with me changing lenses to get better shots. I could tell he wasn’t super happy about my being there and yet he seemed curious enough to stick around. There certainly were plenty of ways to run away but the most he did was saunter down the road and then looked back at me. I thought he finally gave up when he walked uphill out of my site but then he showed up at the top of the hill right above me.

I mean, wow! How cool is that? I didn’t want to bug him too much longer so I packed up and went back the way I came. I couldn’t wait to get home and see what I shot. I certainly wasn’t prepared to be stumbling on such a gem on my walk.
