After such a great trip out east it was time to get back on the trails here at home and discover what late September had to show me. During late summer on the trails it is very easy to find all sorts of mushrooms if you look hard enough. Sometimes you don’t even have to look hard it all. Mushrooms come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and today I found a big one.

About the size of a softball its kind of hard to miss this white beauty in a field of green.

Another great thing about this time of year is the apples. All along the trail grow wild apple trees and today the apples look ripe enough to pick and eat. Don’t they look delicious?

Towards the end of my walk is a beaver pond. As I am walking towards this pond I notice something swimming in the water. Yes! It’s a beaver!

He was a little too far away for me to get a great shot but there he was dragging some sort of grass from one end of the pond to the other. I was very excited to end my hike with a beaver sighting.
