Backyard Wonders

There are so many things growing around me so I’m not straying too far today to take photos. I’m staying in my backyard today to take photographs starting with the gorgeous pruple clematis growing on the edge of my deck.

Of course there’s not just the flowers. Fruit is growing away in our backyard, namely our bushes of red currents.

And then there is the dill weed blooming at the very back of the garden. Waiting for the day we pick them and use them to make our very own pickles. But that’s still a ways away as the cucumbers aren’t out just yet.

There’s still so much more growing in the garden and I’ll be sharing this with you over the summer.

Macro Love and Canada Day

I picked up a new lens today. It’s actually an old manual micro lens from Nikon but what a beauty it is. Check out one of the first photos I took with it this morning.

I am in love with its shallow depth of field.

Today is Canada’s birthday and my plan was to get my ass downtown for the show but that didn’t happen, instead I choose to go see the fireworks from the rocks at Humber Bay.

So this obviously was not the right choice but it is an interesting angle for the festivities. What I really should have done is gone to work on the island and stuck around for the fireworks. The only lucky thing that happened was that the fireworks started very late – almost a whole hour late and that might have meant that I would have missed the last boat to the city. So I guess it all worked out in the end. Next year I may have to get my butt to the island no matter what.

There were also some individuals shooting off some fireworks from different parts of Humber Bay. Some a little far away but some close by. I didn’t get many great shots from these but it was nice to have some to enjoy close by.
