After a busy month of photographing weddings, and the last one of the month last night, it was time to get back out and reconnect with nature. A short drive just north of Orangeville brought me to yellow fields of canola.

Canola
Summer is definitely in full swing when the bright yellows pop up in the fields around Ontario.
One of the other things I love is how full the trees look creating gorgeous tree tunnels along narrow roads or driveways.

Walk Down My Path
Summer, I am so ready for you.

My friend Roy Ramsay of Outdoor Photography Canada invited me out to photograph canola fields just north of the city. At first I thought it would be difficult to find ones close by until they kept popping up, one after another, as we drove west along highway 9.

Fields
It’s hard to see when looking at the field but when up close and personal this plant looks very different. First of all its much taller than expected. The one below was about a foot higher than me! Second those yellow flowers look much more delicate up close.

Canola
We were able to get right up to the fields – okay I walked right into one field to get the shot above. I really wanted to immerse myself in the plant.

Open for Business
I had a lot of fun out in the fields and spending time with my fellow photographer Roy.
